Residential and commercial building

Location: Brogi Street, Kraków, Poland

Building has been designed in the Olsza II district in Cracow. This district is known for residential buildings from late 60s and 70s of 20th century. Residential-commercial building along with the underground parking has the commercial part at the ground floor and the residential part at the upper floors. Entrance to the building plot and to the undergrounds is from the Brogi street. Sculpturing of the elevation made the building look more structural in the architectural sense. It was created by many indentations and overhanging different wall fragments on each floor. This method freed the elevation from the monotony of the surface. Elevation has been designed in white colour along with grey woodwork of the windows. Architectural details which can be seen in the railings were made to fulfill the plasticity of the elevation. The building received the second Stanisław Witkiewicz Award.
